Rudolph: One of Santa's mythical reindeer, whose nose shines bright red to guide Santa's sleigh as it flies from the North Pole.

Santa Claus (St. Nicholas): Traditional character depicted as a jolly man with a white beard and a red suit who lives at the North Pole making gifts year-round to give to children around the world on Christmas.

Scrooge, Ebenezer: The protagonist of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, who hates Christmas but comes to realize the joy of giving and sharing after visits from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.

snow angel: An imprint made by laying down on the snowy ground and opening and closing one's arms and legs, resulting in a figure that looks like an angel's silhouette.

snowman: A figure made out of snow, usually consisting of three rolled up balls stacked on top of one another, then decorated with twigs and other items to create arms and a face.

stocking: a stylized, oversized sock hung over the fireplace on Christmas Eve to hold presents from Santa Claus.
